ABOUT ME
ART AS A NATURAL LANGUAGE
My name is Catalina Garau, and art —especially drawing— has been, for as long as I can remember, my natural language of expression.
I trained in Fine Arts at Escola Massana in Barcelona and in Archaeology at the University of Barcelona (1994), and I dedicated my professional life to both fields until, in 2021, my life changed.
THE BEGINNING OF AN INNER JOURNEY
That year I received the news that my chronic heart failure, a mitral valve prolapse, was worsening, and I needed to undergo open-heart surgery. I had to go through the entire process while also dealing with what I believed at the time was an added difficulty: being a highly sensitive person (HSP).
My world fell apart. I didn’t know what awaited me until a doctor gave me the best definition of what I was about to face:
“Something like this is not just an operation — it is a journey.”
And so it was. My journey began.
THE SEARCH FOR MEANING
That news triggered a long and complex process that made me personally experience the needs of those who must go through something similar.
I walked through fear, uncertainty, loneliness, pain, anxiety… emotions and feelings that led me to seek therapeutic help: first through behavioral and humanistic psychology, and later through spirituality.
This path led me to energetic therapies and to the discovery of Regressive Therapy (also known as Past Life Therapy, PLT), which became immensely valuable in my own process.
I decided to train in this technique with Dr. José Luis Cabouli in 2022–2023.
ART AS A HEALING TOOL
At the same time, I discovered that art was not what I had believed up until then. I found its enormous therapeutic and healing power, especially drawing, in a dual sense: in itself, as a vehicle of energy and vibration, and also as a therapeutic tool for healing oneself and others.
My academic background and artistic career had never led me to consider drawing as anything more than a visual expression on a two-dimensional surface. I could have never imagined that drawing was a gateway to the unconscious and to the soul, and an emitter of energy that functions as a powerful tool for self-healing.
Now, for me, drawing is the language of the soul.
A LIFE WITH PURPOSE
Once recovered, I decided to dedicate myself fully to what has always been my vocation —drawing— now from a much broader and deeper perspective.
Today, I live a life with purpose and meaning, supporting others, especially those who must navigate experiences similar to my own.
In my current professional stage, energetic art and regressive therapy are my working tools. I accompany people going through challenging vital moments, and I support their processes through energetic drawing.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
From here, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and all healthcare professionals, as well as to my family and friends, to all my teachers, therapists, and to every person who has supported, accompanied, and helped me navigate moments of adversity.
All of them have shown me new paths, opening the doors to find light, peace, and serenity in the uncertainty of the storm.
They have given meaning and illuminated my journey.
